May/June 2010: INTERNATIONAL TRAINING SEMINARS IN TANZANIA!

Dear Friends,
We are pleased that more and more people are eager to learn more about Natural Medicine, to produce medicine themselves, to study how to grow Artemisia annua even in difficult climates, to know how to use it for Malaria patients, how to combine it with Moringa to improve dramatically the health of AIDS patients - and also how to produce different soaps, black stones, treatments for serious diseases like cholera, when no other medicine is available......and we are pleased that so many people want to share all this experience with their friends and colleagues so that many more people become "anamed experts".
Because of this overwhelming interest, we offer TWO NEW SEMINARS.

SWAHILI SEMINAR

ENGLISH SEMINAR

Venue for both seminars: Canossa Spirituality Centre, Njiro Hill, Arusha, Tanzania

How to reach Arusha:

Participants from within Tanzania can easily come by bus.

Participants from Uganda or Kenya should take the bus to Nairobi, then  bus (e.g. Scandinavian or Riverside) from Nairobi to Arusha (5 hours, around 10 Euro one way).
Participants from Europe can fly direct to Kilimandscharo Airport by KLM/Kenyan Airways, and take public transport = shuttle bus to Arusha (one hour, about 10 Euro).
It is less expensive to fly to Nairobi overnight (e.g. Kenyan Airways/KLM), arriving at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta Airport at around 6.00 a.m. From the Airport take the shuttle bus "Riverside" to the bus station, and from there take the Riverside bus to Arusha at about 8.a.m., arriving in Arusha 5 hours later. Riverside goes to Arusha twice a day, leaving Nairobi at 8 am and at 2 pm.

How to reach Arusha-NJIRO:

From Arusha, take a private taxi to the Guesthouse, 11km, about 15 Euro, or take the small bus (Daladala) 9 km to Njiro Korona, about 2 Euro, and the last 2 km by foot, or give the same Daladala driver maybe 2 Euro more to take you there.

Visa for Europeans: For Transit in Kenya: Buy on arrival at the Airport, Transit Visa is only 20 USD. You need a Yellow Fever vaccination card.
For your stay in Tanzania: You can buy a visa from your embassy, or more easily at the border on arrival (around 50 USD), mention "tourist, visiting friends" to avoid any complications.

Please register as soon as possible. Places are limited.

The cost:
For people living in Africa (Africans or expatriates) 250 Euro;
For people coming from outside Africa: 500 Euro.
The fee includes food and accommodation, tuition, and all materials used during the seminar, which include anamed books, paper and pens, plant material and materials for preparing medicines
Payment of the fee: If you come yourself, pay on arrival.
If you sponsor somebody, please pay in advance to:

The following are important aspects of our seminars:

  1. Our emphasis on working at the grass-roots, encouraging and supporting local people in developing and extending the skills they already have.
  2. We encourage herbalists and formal health workers such as doctors and nurses to work together. We help them to recognise the positive contribution that each makes, and encourage them to work out practical ways in which they can cooperate.
  3. By introducing Artemisia annua, enabling herbalists, pastors, missionaries and health workers to become much more independent and successful in their treatment of malaria.
  4. It is important that all participants have a commitment both to practising what they learn and to teaching others, for example by conducting a similar seminar in Natural Medicine themselves, at least for a weekend.
  5. It must be made clear to all prospective participants that participants receive no fees for their attendance.
  6. Transport costs must be met by the participants, their employer or sponsor.
  7. All participants will work together in practical work and in establishing a garden. They must bring suitable clothes with them for such activities.
  8. Participants must attend for the entire programme; to come only on some days is not acceptable.
  9. Those participants who are Christians should bring with them a Bible. (Every day starts with an ecumenical devotion, participation in that is voluntary.)
  10. All participants should bring plant material of five medicinal plants from their region.

After this seminar, participants will be able to recognise at least 20 medicinal plants, to use and construct a solar oven, to produce different soaps, different medicinal oils and ointments, black stones for snake-bites....and, most important of all, will be able to treat  malaria effectively with medicinal plants like Artemisia annua. Each participant will be given some seeds and be taught how to grow this delicate plant.

Note: Those people who come to attend the English seminar from outside of Africa are responsible both for their own insurance and also for whatever vaccinations they feel necessary.

Following the seminar you may like to take the opportunity to stay a couple of weeks more, for example to visit one of the anamed centres in Tanzania or Malawi, to visit the heath centre of another seminar participant, to climb Kilimanjaro or to take photographs in the Serengeti. You are, of course, responsible for organising all these activities, which you undertake at your own risk, and at your own cost. You may be able to make the necessary arrangements upon arrival in Arusha.

We look forward to hearing from you!
With best wishes,
Yours sincerely,
Hans Martin Hirt, Peter Feleshi, Philip Mateja.
